Our Story
Heliworx Waikato is a trusted local helicopter business with over 20 years of history. In 2023, Allan and Lydia took over ownership from founders Allister and Lynda Boyd, bringing fresh passion and expertise to this family-driven venture. Based in the Waikato, Heliworx Waikato continues to deliver reliable, professional aerial services while fostering strong connections within the community. Allan leads as chief pilot, Lydia manages administrative operations, and their young sons, Caleb and Harvey, occasionally lend a hand with ground support.
Allan’s aviation journey began in Franklin, where he worked as a farm fencer while studying for his Commercial Pilot Licence. His passion for flying took off during two years of hands-on training with a helicopter operator in Northland, where he earned his agricultural rating. Over the next eight years, Allan honed his skills flying across the North Island before taking on international assignments.
During the following decade, Allan gained invaluable experience, piloting helicopters in some of the world’s most challenging environments. After living abroad in Ireland, Allan, Lydia, and their two sons returned to New Zealand in 2022 to fulfil Allan’s dream of owning his own helicopter business. Together they have realised that vision while continuing to grow the business’s reputation as a trusted aerial service provider.

With more than 20 years of piloting experience, Allan brings global expertise to every project. His extensive career spans diverse environments and industries, making him well-equipped to handle both agricultural operations and precision commercial projects.

- Powerline construction in Canada
- Remote jungle operations in regions of Timor-Leste, Indonesia, and West Papua

- Flying in the extreme conditions of Antarctica
